Southwest Alternate Media Project and Texas Film Commission Offer Production Assistant Workshop

July 19, 2016

Southwest Alternate Media Project (SWAMP), in collaboration with the Texas Film Commission, is offering a two-day, introductory Production Assistant (P.A.) Workshop in Houston, Texas. This certification course teaches the necessary skills for the industry’s entry level position of Production Assistant. You will learn the jargon, terminology, paperwork, etiquette, processes and physical requirements of the job. Taught by active working industry professionals, the workshop develops the skills and flexibility needed to be successful in finding work and building a career.

The P.A. Workshop also creates an opportunity to learn about industry positions beyond the entry level in departments such camera, locations, grip/electric, production, wardrobe, art department, transportation, and accounting. After completing this workshop, students will have learned the job requirements to succeed as a P.A. and realistically visualize a career path working up the latter in the film, television and commercial industries.

Benefits of the P.A. Workshop:

  • Career counseling and strategies for finding employment
  • Specific training for the Production Assistant job position
  • P.A. Workshop Certification by the Texas Film Commission upon completion of the course to add to a resume
  • Certification entitles students to be listed in the Texas Production Directory as a TFC certified P.A. available at the Texas Film Commission’s website.

Registration for this course has been filled. If you would like to be notified about future P.A. workshops, please contact us.
