Texas at SXSW 2018
Each year, SXSW brings about the opportunity for our office to meet with industry professionals from around the world. We kicked-off our presence at the fest with our Filming in Texas Meet Up, where we met with dozens of filmmakers in person to discuss the state of the industry and available resources from our office. Hundreds of festival attendees also visited us at the SXSW Trade Show, where we shared a booth with our Economic Development and Tourism sister agency, the Texas Music Office, to bring awareness of our programs and services to attendees of the SXSW Interactive, Film and Music fests.
We also partnered with other regional Texas film commissions for the Film Texas Reception, which brought together local and international filmmakers attending SXSW for an opportunity to connect to local resources and discuss upcoming opportunities.
With over 50 films with Texas ties, the festival did not stop short of showcasing Texas talent. Thunder Road won the Grand Jury Award for Narrative Feature, and other Texas films went on to win accolades at the fest.
