Additional Grant Awards
Projects may be eligible for multiple additional grants equal to 1% or 2.5% of total in-state spending. The total amount of all grants received by a moving image project may not exceed 31% of the total eligible in-state spending for the project. If applying for an Additional Grant Award(s), the selection(s) must be made on the project application. Additional awards will not be granted retroactively.
An applicant may select any of the following Additional Grant Awards:
- Veteran Percentage
- Postproduction
- Texas Heritage
- Rural Filming
- Faith-Based
- Texas Historic Site
- Workforce Development
Projects that hire Texas Resident Veterans as 5% of their combined total paid Crew and paid Cast, including extras, may receive 2.5% additional incentive percentage to a base incentive rate.
- A Veteran is a person who served in and has been honorably discharged from the United States Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force or Coast Guard; the National or Air National Guard of the United States; the Texas Army National Guard; the Texas Air National Guard; or a Reserve component of any of these military organizations.
- In addition to a valid Declaration of Texas Residency (DTR) form, productions must submit sufficient information confirming the Veteran’s status, including but not limited to military-issued discharge documentation, DD214 Form.
Postproduction
Projects that spend 25% of their total eligible in-state spending on eligible expenditures during postproduction may receive a 1.0% additional incentive percentage to a base incentive rate.
- Eligible expenditures include labor, vendors, and music costs.
- Postproduction expenses may include, but are not limited to: animation, bug-fixing, codebase completion, compositing, editing, lighting, music, patch-creation, sound, testing and visual effects.
Texas Heritage
Projects designated as a Texas heritage project according to rules adopted by the office may receive a 2.5% additional incentive percentage to a base incentive rate.
Rural Filming
Projects that spend at least 35% of the project’s filming days or man hours, as applicable and as defined by office rule, in a county in this state with a population of 300,000 or less may receive a 2.5% additional incentive percentage to a base incentive rate.
Faith-Based
Projects designated as a faith-based moving image project according to rules adopted by the office may receive a 2.5% additional incentive percentage to a base incentive rate.
Texas Historic Site
Projects that utilize historic sites in this state as filming locations may receive a 2.5% additional incentive percentage to a base incentive rate.
Workforce Development
Projects that partner with an institution of higher education in this state to provide moving image industry workforce development opportunities during production of the project may receive a 2.5% additional incentive percentage to a base incentive rate.
