Celebrating Film Friendly Texas Communities at the Capitol
From June 23 to July 8, approximately 54,000 visitors walked through the doors of the Texas Capitol where our interactive Film Friendly Texas (FFTX) Exhibit was on display for visitors and Capitol staffers to enjoy. The display educated visitors about the program and how FFTX certified communities are invaluable assets in positioning Texas as a strong competitor within the moving image industry.
The display also highlighted examples of the economic benefits from productions in these communities from recent years, including AMC’s The Son visiting Gonzales last year, where local businesses were positively impacted by the experience. Economic impact data from productions in Killeen (Nat Geo’s The Long Road Home), Waco (HGTV’s Fixer Upper), Lockhart (HBO’s The Leftovers) and San Antonio (NBC’s American Ninja Warrior) were featured as well.
Also included was a gallery of FFTX certificate presentations to community leaders across the Lone Star State. A portion of the exhibit encouraged visitors to walk away with a fun fact about a certified community’s filmography or a noteworthy piece of Texas film tourism data.
