Texas Music Office Presents Proclamation Recognizing Cindy Walker Days
The Texas Music Office's Director, Brendon Anthony, presented Molly Walker, the niece of legendary Texas songwriter Cindy Walker, with an official proclamation from the State of Texas, recognizing the inaugural Cindy Walker Days in Mexia, Texas. Fun fact: Molly is the namesake behind Cindy’s song “Miss Molly.”
Governor Abbott Announces Frisco Designated Music Friendly Texas Certified Community
Governor Greg Abbott today announced that the City of Frisco, having completed the multi-step certification process, has been designated a Music Friendly Texas Certified Community by the Texas Music Office (TMO). The Music Friendly Texas program, the first in the nation since introduced by TMO in 2016, seeks to foster music business-related economic development and job creation in Texas cities and communities.

After a brief hiatus, we are back to sharing a recap of TMO Community Relations and Outreach Specialist Chip Adams’ travels throughout the state. Chip manages our Music Friendly Texas Program, which includes 40 certified cities throughout Texas, and growing every day. This month, Chip made trips to the Woodlands, Corpus Christi, and Granbury, and had the opportunity to meet up with several existing and potential Music Friendly Texas Communities in the region.

4th Annual Texas Sounds & Cities - RECAP
The TMO’s Music Friendly Community program is built upon communication and collaboration with our cities around Texas. Bringing our communities together several times each year helps keep important conversations happening between cities, which we do with our virtual round table discussions and the annual TMO Texas Sounds & Cities Conference. This year marked our fourth conference, uniting our music cities for a day of speakers, panels and networking.

Texas Music Office Director Brendon Anthony participated in the opening panel for the 11th Global Music Cities Convention in Tulsa, OK on November 2nd, 2022. Entitled "Music’s Role In a Thriving City", Brendon was joined by fellow panelists Emily Scott, Neighborhood Revitalization Planner, Tulsa Planning Office (OK, USA); and Sharon Yazowski, Executive Director, Levitt Foundation (LA, USA). The panel was moderated by Michael Seman (Moderator), Assistant Professor of Arts Management, Colorado State University (CO, USA).
Texas Songwriter U Submission Deadline is November 21, 2022
Texas Songwriter U (TxSU) is an annual songwriting development program consisting of a songwriting competition, educational workshop and showcase event. Season 8 of Texas Songwriter U (TxSU) opened for submissions on September 26, 2022 and the deadline to apply is November 21, 2022.
