November 15 Deadline for 2020 Texas Commission on the Arts’ + Texas Cultural Trust’s Young Masters Grant Program
The Texas Commission on the Arts and the Texas Cultural Trust are accepting applications for the 2020 class of Young Masters, a joint initiative that provides exemplary Texas-based arts students in grades 8-11 with the financial help they need to pursue advanced study in the areas of visual arts, literary arts, folk arts, music, theater, dance, musical theater, and media arts.
Visual Artist Tim Wakefield Brings Music and Art Together For Philathropy
Visual artist / Soundwaves Art Foundation founder Tim Wakefield has raised more then $2 million for charities around the world with his singular soundwaves art, but now he's bringing his philanthropy to his new adopted Central Texas home with his newest project, W’ALL Austin. An ever-evolving art park and music installation located at Mosaic Sound Collective, W'ALL Austin opens to the public on November 16 with its official launch during this year’s East Austin Studio Tour. We recently spoke with Wakefield about the new project and how he uses his unique soundwaves art in collaboration with musicians, giving them a platform to galvanize their fans to support charitable causes.
Governor Abbott Announces Music Friendly Community Workshop In Waxahachie
Governor Abbott today announced the Texas Music Office will host a Music Friendly Community Workshop, in partnership with the City of Waxahachie, on Wednesday, November 6, in Waxahachie. The workshop is open to anyone interested in learning about the new Texas Music Office program that seeks to foster music business economic development in Texas cities and communities. Brendon Anthony, director of the Texas Music Office within the Office of the Governor’s Economic Development and Tourism Division, will be present to explain the Music Friendly Community designation and answer questions.
