The Gem Theatre opened in 1915 as a live theatre and later went on to show movies. Most recently, the building was purchased in 1992 by the Armstrong County Museum and has been beautifully restored to its original decor. The Gem Theatre exists to support the Museum in its efforts to preserve the sights and sounds of yesteryears and today and to delight and challenge our audiences and volunteers through theatre and performing arts.
