Governor Abbott Invites Industry Professionals To Panel Discussion In Austin On Texas Women In Animation And Gaming
AUSTIN – Governor Greg Abbott, the Texas Film Commission and the Governor’s Commission for Women invite animation and video game industry professionals to attend a panel discussion on Texas Women in Animation and Gaming, Thursday, September 19, at the Texas Capitol in Austin.
"Texas is not only ranked as the top state for women entrepreneurs, we are also the premier state for the film, television, commercial, animation, visual effects and video game industries,” said Governor Abbott. “And I am proud of the work of the Texas Film Commission and the Governor’s Commission for Women, expanding opportunities for women to network and advance, and helping to grow the state both economically and culturally.”
Panelists Stephanie Whallon of the Texas Film Commission, Rachel Citron from Powerhouse Animation, Sara Hirsh Bordo of Women Rising, and Heather Ross of Women in Games International will discuss how Texas business leaders are working to change the digital media and tech landscape, and how Texas women are at the forefront in the animation and video game industries. An off-site reception will follow the event.
