About the event: The Houston Film Commissions presents the 2012 Texas Filmmakers Showcase, a program short films and videos made in Texas screened annually in Los Angeles for the Hollywood film community.
The Austin Film Society hosts two screenings with some filmmakers in attendance, benefitting the Texas Filmmakers Production Fund.
The film program features:
CINNAMON - Timothy Edwards, Austin
Theodore must grant his grandfather's last wish the night before his grandmother's funeral.
INTO THE SOUTH - Micah Robert Barber, Austin
Jaris lost his mom and is being raised by his emotionally distant dad. When he travels to the Deep South to be with his dying Grandma, he may lose the one person who still cares about him.
MENTIROSO - Will Shipley, San Antonio
A young boy (Maurico) gets himself in over his head and must prove to his peers he is not a liar.
ONCE IT STARTED IT COULD NOT END OTHERWISE - Kelly Sears, Galveston
An animated horror film constructed from the candid photos on handwritten messages from discarded high school yearbooks.
THE ORDER OF THINGS - Chris Spisak, Houston
Having been dragged in for questioning after a physical altercation with his girlfriend, Sebastian Kelly soon finds that more is riding on his answers than he possibly could have imagined.
THE WHALE - Jaime Chapin, Denton
A young boy lives an ephemeral fantasy in his attempt to escape the cycle of paternal abuse.
Z AND BEAU - Carlyn Hudson, Austin
A couple on the lam avoids traditional society until a mysterious stranger appears and ruins everything.
