In addition, we offer MIDI and Notation software as a main component of the program. The Human Performance Institute is dedicated to the multidisciplinary study of human-task interfaces. With the University of North Texas, one focus is musician education and health (i.e., occupational related injuries). We are investigating different low-level performance resources (such as finger speeds, pitch discrimination, memory, etc.), and how each contributes to the quality or level of musical performance. Performance resource availability can increase through training or decrease through injury or aging. Models are being developed to map changes in the measured availability to a change in overall "music performance capacity" and ultimately assist a performer to improve musical performance and also reduce risk of injury. Currently we have a limited ability to provide individualized performance resource profile assessments and are carrying out research concerning measurement and evaluation of injuries sustained through musical activities, as well as their prevention.
