TMO Presents Proclamation Recognizing Arkey’s 50th Anniversary
Very few music venues stay in business for 25 years, let alone 50 years...but Arkey Blue's Silver Dollar Saloon in Bandera, TX is unlike many venues.
“Over the years, Arkey Blue’s Silver Dollar Saloon has helped introduce country music and the cowboy culture to scores of people from other nations,” Bandera County Convention & Visitors Bureau Executive Director Patricia Moore recently explained to the Bandera Bulletin.
The building housing Arkey's was built in 1923, at that time housing the Bandera Theatre, a silent movie theater on the Main Street level of the building.
Mr. Arkey Blue (aka Arkey Juenke) bought the Silver Dollar on May 21, 1968...and has been performing country music and high lonesome cowboy songs at the honkytonk ever since.
TMO Program Manager Steve Ray presented a proclamation signed by Governor Greg Abbott to Arkey Blue's Silver Dollar Saloon in Bandera, TX as they celebrated their 50th anniversary on Saturday, April 28th.
