Texas Music Office, Kessler Presents, and Longhorn Ballroom Partner for 6th Annual Lone Star Shindig

October 5, 2023 | Austin, Texas | News | Newsletter | Outreach

The Texas Music Office, Kessler Presents, and the Longhorn Ballroom partnered for the 6th Annual Lone Star Shindig for the 23rd Americanafest Conference in Nashville, TN, featuring all Texas artists at the Rooftop Lounge at the Bobby Hotel.

The TMO teamed up again with the fantastic Kessler Presents, the largest independent promoter in Texas, specializing in presenting curated artists to respectful audiences in unique environments, and this year welcomed the historic Longhorn Ballroom, Kessler's beautifully restored venue, as a fellow partner.

Together, we presented our 6th annual Lone Star Shindig at the 23rd annual Americanafest on the Rooftop Lounge at the Bobby Hotel in downtown Nashville, TN. This year’s showcase featured event featured special performances by some of our favorite Texas artists that embody the Americana music spirit, ranging from some newcomers to some of the largest names in Texas Music and Americana.

About the Lone Star Shindig Hosts:

Kessler Presents is one of the largest independent live music promoters in Texas. They operate of The Kessler Theater (Dallas), The Heights Theater (Houston), Kessler Presents Austin, and present live music across the state and boutique festivals. With a commitment to artist & patron experience – presenting curated artists to respectful audiences in unique venues, Kessler Presents sets itself apart.

The Longhorn Ballroom was built in 1950 for country music legend Bob Wills and his Texas Playboys and was originally named Bob Wills' Ranch House. It was managed for a time by Jack Ruby before it landed in the capable hands of ‘Dewey’ Groom who renamed it the Longhorn Ballroom. Groom built it into one of the greatest venues of its day. The Ballroom hosted a wide variety of acts from country legends like Willie Nelson, Loretta Lynn, Merle Haggard, Charley Pride, Patsy Cline, and George Jones to world-renowned jazz, blues, and R&B artists like B. B. King, Ray Charles, Nat King Cole, James Brown, and Al Green. Johnny Rodriquez, Freddy Fender and Selena have also graced the stage.

For nearly 30 years the Texas Music Office has served the Texas music industry. Its mission to create opportunity and connect businesses continues today. Our core functions are to serve as a clearinghouse for Texas music industry information via the TMO's Texas Music Industry Directory, serve as a liaison between music businesses and government offices and agencies, publicize significant developments within the industry, and to attract essential music industry to foster the economic development of Texas music businesses and musicians.
