Music Friendly Communities Launch Virtual Roundtable Discussions
Over the past two weeks, the Texas Music Office (TMO) Music Friendly Community Liaisons have been brought together over a series of virtual round table discussions. The idea for this stemmed from the TMO’s Texas Sounds and Cities Conference this past September, where a significant part of the day was spent in breakout sessions. The ideas that flowed from those breakouts truly showed how important it is for our cities to have platforms for communication, sharing ideas and learning from both their successes and mistakes. To keep this momentum moving forward, the virtual round tables were created and kicked off earlier this month.
Governor Abbott’s Texas Task Force On Concert Safety Holds Meeting In Arlington
Governor Greg Abbott's Texas Task Force on Concert Safety yesterday held their third meeting, and first in-person meeting, at Global Life Park in Arlington. Hosted by the Texas Rangers organization, over 45 public safety and industry experts, as well as expert contributors and local authorities, came together to discuss best practices for concert safety.
Governor Abbott Forms Texas Task Force On Concert Safety Following Astroworld Festival Tragedy
Governor Greg Abbott today announced the formation of the Texas Task Force on Concert Safety in the wake of the tragedy at Astroworld Festival in Houston that left at least eight concertgoers dead and injured hundreds of others. The task force will be led by Texas Music Office Director Brendon Anthony and will consist of safety experts, law enforcement, fire fighters, state agencies, music industry leaders, and others.

Governor Greg Abbott today announced the Texas Music Office (TMO) and AdventGX will co-host a Music Friendly Community workshop in Bryan on Monday, October 18. TMO Director Brendon Anthony will be present to explain the Music Friendly Community designation and answer questions.
Texas Music Office + The City of Hutto Co-Host Music Friendly Community Workshop on Oct 20
The Texas Music Office (TMO) and the City of Hutto will co-host a Music Friendly Community workshop in Hutto on Wednesday, October 20 at 6 pm at the Downtown Hall of Fame. TMO Community Relations & Outreach Specialist Chip Adams will be present to explain the Music Friendly Community designation and answer questions.
El Paso To Be Certified As A Music Friendly Community On June 18
On Friday, June 18, the Texas Music Office (TMO) + the City of El Paso + the El Paso International Music Foundation will celebrate El Paso becoming a TMO-certified Music Friendly Community (MFC). TMO Community Relations & Outreach Specialist Chip Adams will represent the TMO, awarding El Paso MFC liaison Veronica Castro (Director of Tourism, Destination El Paso) the "Music Friendly" honor at an in-person celebration in El Paso.
TMO To Co-Host Virtual Music Friendly Community Workshop In McAllen on June 29
On Tuesday, June 29, the Texas Music Office (TMO) + Visit McAllen will co-host a virtual Music Friendly Community workshop. TMO Community Relations and Outreach Specialist Chip Adams will co-host the workshop to represent the TMO, answer questions, and speak about the Music Friendly Community program.
SBA Shares Preliminary Application Checklist For Shuttered Venue Operators Grant Program
The SBA has shared its preliminary checklist for the new Shuttered Venue Operators (SVO) Grant program. The SVO Grant program was established by the Economic Aid to Hard-Hit Small Businesses, Nonprofits, and Venues Act, signed into law on December 27, 2020. The program includes $15 billion in grants to shuttered venues, to be administered by the SBA’s Office of Disaster Assistance. Learn the program details, eligibility requirements, and much more!
