Activities: Music festival, Highland dancing, Bagpipe Bands, Scottish Highland Games
Music: Folk/Acoustic, Celtic

As our Highland Games festival attendees will attest, it is not a Highland Games without bagpipes. Normally held in conjunction with the opening ceremony of the games, several pipe bands and piping soloists will march and play together. The result is a thunderous rendition of traditional bagpipe favorites such as Scotland the Brave or Amazing Grace, and other crowd-pleasing favorites. The music of the bagpipe has come to symbolize music at the Games and is reminiscent of Scotland itself. But the pipes and drums are not the only music which can be heard at the San Antonio Highland Games. The San Antonio Highland Games features a wide variety of Celtic music each year playing on three stages throughout the weekend. Many such performances feature fiddling, harp, Celtic bands and other forms of musical entertainment. Though the actual bands will vary year to year, the music performances will typically feature nationally recognized Celtic bands and Celtic folk music performers. In past years, fans packed the main stage to tune in to Celtic rock bands such as Seven Nations and Needfire. These bands have artfully blended bagpipes and Celtic fiddles, with modern rock band instruments to create a unique sound that draws in listeners and creates new fans instantly.
