Sammons Jazz: new in Town - October 2,2024
A familiar face at Sammons Jazz, drummer Efren Guzman fronts his own group for the first time in our concert series with his own group, the Buenos Días Social Club Latín Jazz Quartet. Joined by Tony Palos on piano, Fifo Rengifo on bass, and Ricardo Taglafierro on percussion, this set will turn strangers into amigos as Latin jazz energy courses through the room. An up-and-coming artist with a sound straight out of the Jazz Age, vocalist Whitney James makes her debut at Sammons Jazz this fall. With impeccable technique that is never neglectful of intentionality and heart, The Whitney James Quartet will blow you away with contributions from Michael Clement on piano, Henry Beal on bass, and Quincy Davis on drums.
Sammons Jazz: In the Swing of Things - November 6, 2024
Starting the night with 3-time GRAMMY-winning Brannen Temple on drums and the renowned musical veteran Red Young on Hammond B-3 organ, prepare to realize just how much music two people can make. Coming together as The Brannen & Red Show, this truly dynamic duo will fill the air with sounds, rhythms, and artistry emitted straight from the soul. Always bringing the heat from the back of the band, you would never guess the stages that have hosted and albums that have included the legendary jazz bassist Lynn Seaton. Back again at Sammons Jazz for another go around in his decades-long career, The Lynn Seaton Quartet features Fredrick Sanders on piano, Gerhard Kraus on guitar, and Andrew Griffith on drums.
Sammons Jazz: Play it Cool - December 4, 2024
With a voice as rich and craft as deep as the color of mahogany itself, it is clear why that name fits for Mahogany TheArtist. Serving up sounds as cool as a December day, this passionate singer, multi-instrumentalist, writer, producer, and founder of Jazz BeCuzz Arts is joined by Jay Mck on bass, Todd Parsnow on guitar, Jaelun Washington on drums, and M Jelani on sax. While you’ve heard him many other times on the bandstand, Myles Tate & The Soul Revival grace the Sammons Jazz stage with their debut performance. Pianist Myles Tate III brings Kazu Tanaka on trumpet, Andrew Garfias on tenor saxophone, Terence Hobdy on drums, Nick Woodhouse on bass, and LaSheena on vocals in on a soul-reviving mission that ends the concert season with a bang.
