Swingin’ Sinatra: A New Year’s Celebration

Swing into the New Year as charismatic crooner Tony DeSare and the Houston Symphony Big Band perform all your favorite Sinatra standards, including “Come Fly with Me,” “Luck Be a Lady,” “Fly Me to the Moon,” “The Best is Yet to Come,” “That’s Life,” “My Way,” and “New York, New York,” along with popular tunes from the golden age of Big Band and Swing.
Jazz, Love & Gershwin: A Century of Rhapsody in Blue

Usher in Valentine’s Day as the world-renowned Marcus Roberts Trio and Grammy Award-winning jazz singer Catherine Russell (“a voice that wails like a horn and whispers like a snake in the Garden of Eden”—NPR) join the Houston Symphony for virtuoso jazz and classic Gershwin songs, including a love song for your sweetheart. Plus, the Houston Symphony performs a new take on Gershwin’s iconic Rhapsody in Blue alongside jazz piano sensation Marcus Roberts, in celebration of the 100th anniversary of its premiere.

Travel to galaxies far, far away as the orchestra performs your favorite music from across the Star Wars universe, from “Rey’s Theme” to “Yoda’s Theme” and “The Imperial March.” You’ll hear music from all nine films in the Skywalker saga, performed in chronological order, plus selections from Rogue One and Solo.
