Music festival, Parade, Fireworks

The Crape Myrtle Capital of Texas will be in full-bloom and ready to celebrate Independence Day with the 25th Annual Crape Myrtle Festival & Parade. The patriotic celebration will begin on Monday, July 3, at 6 p.m. at the Waxahachie Sports Complex located at 151 Broadhead Rd. Madness Entertainment will entertain the crowd before the concert. This year, guests will enjoy a concert by Seger System at 7:30 p.m. Following the concert will be the spectacular H-E-B and City of Waxahachie fireworks display at 9:15 p.m. Spectators are encouraged to tune their radio to KBEC 1390/99.1 during the fireworks show for a special simulcast of patriotic music choreographed to the fireworks. Lawn chairs, blankets and coolers are allowed at the Waxahachie Sports Complex; however, personal fireworks are prohibited. On Tuesday, July 4, the celebration will continue at 10 a.m. with a hometown parade from Getzendaner Park down Main Street to Downtown Waxahachie. All Veterans and active service personnel, including veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan War on Terror, are honored guests in the parade. Before the parade, veterans plus one guest are invited to the Dan McClinton Veterans’ Memorial Breakfast, sponsored by the First Baptist Church of Waxahachie beginning at 8:30 a.m.
