Bluegrass, Country, Western Swing. Athens Old Fiddlers is the longest running fiddle contest in Texas and the second oldest, continuously-running fiddle contest in the country. Hosting fiddlers and fans from all over the United States since 1932, the Athens Courthouse square still turns into one big fiddle party the last weekend in May. Over $6k in prizes, two street dances, jam sessions, food vendors, carnival, car show, corn hole tourney, Texas 42 domino tourney, old fashioned fair,concessions and novelty stands along the sidewalks. Please bring your own quilts or lawn chairs to sit on while listening to the music and renewing old acquaintances. As always Old Fiddlers is a FREE event. It's truly a magical time.
