Tyler Junior College is the largest single-campus junior college in the state with an enrollment of more than 11,000 students. We offer an Associate of Art in Music and an Associate of Art in Fine Arts. In addition to regular music classes and applied lessons, Tyler Junior College offers Sound Production Technology courses. Dedicated to giving students individual attention, our instructors are qualified professionals interested in helping students reach their full potential.
Performance opportunities include the Apache Band (130 members), Jazz Band (20 members), and Wind Ensemble (40 members)--under the direction of Thomas Mensch III, Thomas McGowan and Heather Mensch (903) 510-2242; A Cappella Choir (50 members)-- under the direction of Cheryl Rogers, (903) 510-2483; and the pop group, Harmony (14 members) and Understanding under the direction of Dr. Cheryl Rogers, (903) 510-2483.

The faculty at the School of Performing Arts are scholars in their fields who are highly committed to the art of teaching. They place the success of the student as a person and musician as first priority. The assignments and repertoire of our faculty are designed to build competencies for students to be better musicians, careful thinkers, and well-prepared for a successful career. The school offers coursework toward the Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Arts, and Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies. Students may select an emphasis in instrumental or vocal music education; instrumental, vocal or keyboard performance; piano pedagody or composition. A minor is also offered, allowing students to gain aesthetic values, knowledge and experience that are beneficial to any chosen career. A variety of audition-based scholarships are available.
