    The museum's mission is to preserve the history of Polka Music in Texas. Items of interest include instruments, band uniforms, recorded music, especially recordings not released, music and words used in performances, photos of bands, band schedules and information about band members. Copies of polka DJ programs, program notes and play list along with radio station broadcast information is also needed. Materials should be from Texas Polka bands and Texas Polka DJ's. Information received will be preserved, and credited to the donors. Donated items will be presented in modern electronic and interactive displays.

      The Newton Gresham Library contains the Music Listening Room which holds a significant music collection, including all audio and visual materials. Materials include approximately 16,000 books, 19,000 scores, including collected works of composers, plus 17,000 audio and visual items, covering all areas of music. SHSU houses the Newton Strandberg Collection, including the majority of his compositions. The music collection supports the teaching and research needs of the School of Music on all levels. Located at 1830 Bobby K. Marks Drive on the library's first floor in room 121.

        Polka Lovers Club of Texas Museum (PLCTM) - Hoelscher Haus - is located at the Fayette County Fairgrounds (250 W. Fairgrounds Road), La Grange, TX.  The historic circa 1878 haus, was donated by a gift deed dated October 12, 2005, from Esther & Henry Hoelscher to Polka Lovers Club of Texas Museum.  With approval from TCHCC, the haus was moved into the 'farm village' of the Center on October 19, 2005.  The haus, restored into a museum, displays artifacts/memorabilia of the Po.L.K. of A. chapters in Texas, exhibits of polka artists, polka memorabilia including photos/artifacts/instruments/polka band videos and records/polka event videos/a Jukebox plays 45's/working antique victrola/and more!  Tours "by appointment and 24 hours' notice" (no admission fee).  Handicap parking available.  PLCTM is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization.
