The studio is made up of a collection of powerful analog & digital tools all geared towards providing the artist with the most relaxed, focused, and creative recording experience possible. Music scholarships are awarded based on the student’s initial audition to the music department (see Audition Information for more details). The amount varies according to the student’s major, instrument or voice part and, to some extent, financial need. All music major scholarships carry agreement to: •Participate in ensembles •Maintain a 2.5 grade point average (G.P.A.) •Earn an “A” in ensembles and no less than a “B” in applied music courses Music minors and non-majors who receive scholarships must also participate in ensembles and maintain a 2.5 GPA and an “A” in each ensemble. First semester students whose G.P.A. falls between 2.5 and 2.0 will have their scholarship reduced by 50% for one semester. If the student’s G.P.A. is not improved to 2.5 by the end of the second semester, the scholarship will be revoked. If the first semester student’s G.P.A. after one semester is below 2.0, the scholarship will be revoked. With exemplary academic achievement in the music degree, outstanding musical progress, and excellent participation in ensembles, students may apply to raise their scholarship amounts at the end of the spring semester for the following fall.

Lamar University Mary Morgan Moore Department of Music. Degrees in music include a Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Music leading to teacher certification, Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Arts (Music Business), Master of Music, and Master of Music Education. More than 150 students are enrolled in music programs. Music faculty includes 15 full time professors and 15 part time faculty. Located just minutes from the Gulf shores and near the Big Thicket National Preserve, Lamar University is the ideal choice for the serious music student who values the serenity this type of environment has to offer.

Performance facilities include the University Theatre (500 seats). Many concerts, including the subscription concert series Lamarissimo!, are performed in downtown Beaumont's Julie Rogers Theatre (1,700 seats). The music building is newly renovated, completed January 2011, which includes the Charles A. “Pete” Wiley Rehearsal Hall and the Rothwell Recital Hall which seats 140 in a state-of-the-art facility.

Scholarships range from $250 to $1,500 per semester. Scholarships are offered to students that wish to participate in music regardless of major. Blinn College | Department of Music offers an associate degree in music (AA-Field of Study) and the opportunity to participate in band, vocal, or piano. Blinn College's outstanding music faculty have diverse, hands-on experience and make teaching their top priority so that students are exposed to music, ideas and issues that expand their horizons. Texas A&M University has a liberal arts-oriented B.A. Music Program in a comprehensive state university setting. Program emphases are composition, ethnomusicology, and music theory with individual instruction available in voice, guitar, piano and orchestral instruments. A broad range of courses are offered in music history, theory, composition, electronic music, recording, and world music. The Music Program offers concerts and residencies by a wide range of nationally and internationally renowned visiting artists, as well as regular faculty recitals. An audition is required for admission. The Music Program is part of the Department of Performance Studies, which also includes a liberal arts-oriented B.A. degree in Theatre Arts.

The School of Music at Sam Houston State University is recognized for its outstanding teaching and performing faculty. The faculty members in the School of Music possess impressive credentials. LSCPA prepares students for careers as sound engineers, performers and multimedia production specialists. We offer two Associate of Applied Science degrees in Sound Engineering and Music Performance along with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Audiovisual Production. The division features an extensive recording space with a 24 channel analog Toft mixing desk along with two smaller studios equipped with high-end preamps and the latest software from Avid Pro Tools, Logic, Reason, Native Instruments and more. Monitoring is provided by Genelec and Dynaudio. The Music Hall is outfitted with a Soundcraft digital mixer and a 64-channel analog Allen and Heath monitoring desk.
