Summary: Houston’s artists and creative individuals make Houston a more culturally rich place to live through their creative problem solving, provoking messages and animation of neighborhoods and cultural institutions. The Support for Artists and Creative Individuals program provides funds of up to $15k to advance the careers of Houston artists and creative individuals creating new work or completing work already in progress. All awardees are responsible for sharing the work they accomplish in a public program as outlined in their grant proposal.
Summary: The purpose of the Evans-Merrick Music Grants Fund is to support and encourage traditional and/or classical music activities in the East Texas region. Programs must be offered without a required admission fee and be publicly available. Eligible expenses may include production costs, music purchases, equipment and supplies, travel, musicians fees, venue rental, etc. All other things being equal, preference is given to offerings by small groups who have limited means of financial support. Applicants must be non-profits with 501(c)(3) status serving the East Texas region.
Summary: Each year, the Levitt Foundation awards $25K matching grants to up to 15 U.S.-based nonprofits serving small to mid-sized towns and cities to present the Levitt AMP Music Series, 10 free concerts that inject new life into public spaces and create vibrant community destinations. Through online public voting, your votes determine the Top 25 finalists.
Summary: The D’Addario Foundation is a non-profit organization that identifies the highest quality, most impactful instrument instruction programs in communities of need and awards grants and product donations to assist their growth and development. We believe in the power of music to unlock creativity, boost self-confidence, and enhance academics. By making music education accessible, we can positively affect social change and foster better citizens of the world. All organizations applying for the first time must submit a letter of inquiry before being invited to submit a grant application.
Summary: Applications may be submitted by publicly supported non-profit or fiscally-sponsored organizations that have a history of substantial commitment to contemporary concert music at a high level of excellence. Applications from organizations with a budget of over $10 million will be considered only for special project support. The Grants Manager should be contacted for approval prior to beginning an application. Please note that, in general, the grant program does not support jazz music. The following criteria will be applied in evaluating grant proposals:
History of high-quality performances of, or otherwise substantially fostering the public knowledge and appreciation of, contemporary concert music;
The significant contributions the organization has made in the past and those it is likely to make in the future;
The responsibility and effectiveness of management.
All applicants must meet the following qualifications:
Must be a musician in a time of serious need, due to personal, medical, dental, or family crisis, natural disaster, or other emergency situation.
Have worked as a professional musician for five (5) or more years in the United States. We define “professional musician” as someone whose primary source of income was or is derived from work as a musician or music educator. Additionally, the applicant / musician must currently reside in the United States.
Have tax documents (1040 listing occupation as any type of musician or music educator OR Schedule C listing any type of musician or music educator status) to prove professional experience as a musician or music educator.
Musicians Foundation aid grants typically range in amount from approximately $500-$3000.
