November 2017 TMO Community Outreach
November 2017 found the TMO connecting with various organizations around the state, in addition to continuing its Music Friendly Communities initiative with a MFC workshop in San Antonio. Among the many organizations that the TMO worked with in November include: Texas Heritage Songwriters Association, CBI National Student Electronic Media Convention, NAMM Foundation, City of Austin's Music and Entertainment Division, SIMS, HAAM, Austin Music People, Frisco ISD, Fort Worth ISD, West ISD, and many more.
Texas Music License Plates Make Great Holiday Gifts
With Thanksgiving behind us, and all of the various December holidays approaching, its time to start thinking about holiday gifts for friends and family. The TMO's Texas Music specialty license plates are truly a gift that keeps on giving: $22 of the $30 purchase fee goes toward future grants for Texas school children to receive music instruments and music lessons, and to community music programs.

20 Texas born-or-based acts received a total of 31 GRAMMY nominations today from the Recording Academy, including El Paso's Khalid who topped off the list of Texans with 5 total nominations. The Recording Academy will present the 60th GRAMMY Awards on Sunday, Jan. 28, 2018, live from Madison Square Garden in New York and broadcast on CBS from 7:30–11:30 pm ET.

2017 Texas Music Eco Impact Study Press Release
The Texas Music Office (TMO) released the findings of its 2017 Texas music industry economic impact study today. The TMO worked with TXP, Inc. economist Jon Hockenyos and his team to update the office’s first state-wide economic impact study, which was conducted in 2015. The findings from the study show that the economic impact of the Texas music industry has grown significantly from 2015 to 2017.
