SXSW 2018 Recap: As the music portion of the SXSW conference extends in length with each passing year, the Texas Music Office is able to take business meetings and foster economic development opportunities with the thousands of music business professionals from around the world that descend on Austin.
Texas Music Office at SXSW 2018
The Texas Music Office - in collaboration with the Texas Film Commission - will host a booth at the SXSW 2018 Trade Show, conducting meetings with businesses from around the world that are interested in Texas music and Texas music businesses.
San Antonio & Denton Receive MFC Designation
Both San Antonio and Denton received a "Music Friendly Communities" designation from the Texas Music Office in February 2018. The City of San Antonio's Arts & Culture Division and the Denton Convention & Visitor's Bureau (Discover Denton) have partnered with the Texas Music Office on music business development initiatives and information exchange.
San Antonio and Denton to receive “Music Friendly Community” Certification
Both the City of San Antonio and the City of Denton will receive recognition from the Texas Music Office as "Music Friendly Communities" during the month of February 2018.
TMO at Folk Alliance International
The Texas Music Office joins Kessler Theater Presents to host the Texas Music Showcase on Feb 14-17 in Kansas City at the annual Folk Alliance International Conference.
St. David’s Children’s Hospital seeks musician volunteers for MyMusicRx program
St. David’s Children’s Hospital has worked to develop a partnership with MyMusicRx. This program brings the joy of music to children in hospital settings as a method of therapy and to distract children from their current circumstances. St. David's Children's Hospital is currently seeking musician volunteers to begin the program at the hospital in February!
TMO in the 2018 Report to the People of Texas
Governor Greg Abbott just released his 2018 "Report to the People of Texas," and it highlights some of the Texas Music Office's recent work (see page 10 in the report), among the many other Office of the Governor accomplishments from the prior year.
The Top Selling Texas Artists in 2017 at Texas Record Stores
Check out the top-selling Texas artists and their albums in 2017, surveyed from a variety of record stores located all across the state (including Cactus Music, Waterloo Records, Good Records, Doc's Records & Vintage, Antone's Records, Music Connection, and Exploded Records). We put out a call to Texas record stores to send us their top selling Texas artists and albums from 2017, and the results from Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Fort Worth, and Austin show some familiar faces (Willie Nelson) and some burgeoning superstars (St. Vincent) at the top of the lists.
