BMI office officially opens in Austin
Governor Greg Abbott today held a press conference to formally welcome Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) to the state of Texas. BMI recently announced the opening of their new creative office in Austin, marking their first office in Texas and their first company expansion in more than twenty years.
TMO Music Friendly Communities Workshop Comes to Abilene on Friday, March 22
Governor Greg Abbott today announced a Music Friendly Community Workshop scheduled for Friday, March 22, in Abilene. The workshop, co-hosted by the Texas Music Office and the Abilene Convention and Visitors Bureau, is open to anyone interested in learning about the new Texas Music Office program that seeks to foster music business economic development in Texas cities and communities. Brendon Anthony, director of the Texas Music Office within the Office of the Governor’s Economic Development and Tourism Division, will be present to explain the Music Friendly Community designation and answer questions.
Governor Abbott Releases Texas Music Economic Impact Study
Governor Greg Abbott and the Texas Music Office today released the 2019 Texas Music Economic Impact Study measuring jobs created by music businesses and music education in communities across the state, as well as total earnings and industry economic activity statewide.
Texas Music Office presents Texas Music at Folk Alliance International Conference in Canada
For the third consecutive year, the Texas Music Office sponsored stages at the Folk Alliance International Conference. This year the conference took place at Montreal, Canada’s Queen Elizabeth Hotel. In addition to official showcases from Texas artists Jackie Venson and Eliza Gilkyson, nearly twenty additional Texans braved the single digit temperatures to perform for media, booking agents, promoters, festivals and venues from more than 35 countries over five days.
Tyler and El Paso Music Friendly Community Workshops Set For February 12th and 26th
Two Music Friendly Community workshops are scheduled for Tuesday, February 12 in Tyler at 9 am at Liberty Hall...and on February 26 in El Paso at 6 pm at Star City Studio. The workshops are open to anyone interested in learning about the new Texas Music Office program that seeks to foster music business economic development in Texas cities and communities.
US State Department’s American Music Abroad Seeking Applicants
In cooperation with the U.S. Department of State, American Voices arranges 2-3 week long, multi-country cultural exchange programs for artists, including public concerts, interactive performances with local traditional musicians, lecture demonstrations, workshops, jam sessions and media interviews and performances. Application deadline is January 20, 2019.
