On the Wednesday, December 9th episode of the Texas Music Office's Texas Music Mixtape, we feature brand new music from Texas artists from all around the state, including new singles from The Black Angels' frontman Alex Maas (Austin), Sarah Jarosz (Wimberley), Nick Garza's Get Along (San Antonio), Chloe Jobin (Dallas), Delta Spirit (Austin), Spineless (Dallas), and many more.

TMO partners with the Mechanical Licensing Collective for Texas Webinars on Dec. 8th & Dec 16th
On Tuesday, December 8th at 11:00 am CT - and on December 16th at 1:00 pm CT - the TMO welcomes the newly created Mechanical Licensing Collective (the MLC) as the host two FREE webinars for Texas music creators and producers entitled “THE FUTURE OF DIGITAL AUDIO MECHANICAL ROYALTIES FROM DSPs IN THE UNITED STATES." The webinars will provide information for artists and music producers to help ensure they are receiving this important revenue stream from digital service providers.

Don’t mess with Texas is launching a contest as big as the Lone Star State to find its new anti- litter theme song. The Don’t mess with Texas “Lone Star Song Search” invites Texans to compose an original song to compete for prizes provided by iHeart Media, Guitar Center and the School of Rock. Two winners will be selected in two different categories with each winning valuable prizes.
Virtual Music Friendly Community Workshop - Denison
Governor Greg Abbott today announced the Texas Music Office (TMO) and the City of Denison will co-host a virtual Music Friendly Community workshop on Tuesday, December 1. TMO Community Relations and Outreach Specialist Chip Adams will co-host the workshop via livestream to represent the TMO, answer questions, and speak about the Music Friendly Community program.

23 Texas born-or-based acts received a total of 37 Grammy nominations in advance of the 63rd GRAMMY Awards, which will be broadcast live on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2021, on CBS at 7:00 pm CT. Beyoncé leads the entire field of nominees with nine nominations for her music across various media formats. With her nine nominations, Beyoncé makes another career milestone, adding to her 79 total nominations throughout her entirer music career, making her the most-nominated woman in Grammy history.

Governor Abbott Announces City Of Victoria Designated As Music And Film Friendly Community
Governor Greg Abbott today announced that the City of Victoria, having completed the multi-step training and certification process, has been designated as both a Music Friendly and Film Friendly Community by the Texas Music Office (TMO) and Texas Film Commission, respectively. A virtual certification ceremony will take place on Tuesday, November 17 during the Victoria City Council meeting.
