Governor Greg Abbott today announced the Texas Music Office (TMO) and the City of Harker Heights will cohost a Music Friendly Community workshop on Thursday, April 21, at 5:30 pm. TMO Community Relations & Outreach Specialist Chip Adams will attend the workshop to explain the Music Friendly Community designation and answer questions.

Governor Greg Abbott today announced that the City of McAllen, having completed the multi-step certification process, has been designated as a Music Friendly Community by the Texas Music Office (TMO). The Music Friendly Community program seeks to foster music business-related economic development in Texas cities and communities.

BMI’s Howdy Texas SXSW 2022 Party
This year, BMI will kick off its return to Austin with its signature Howdy Texas event, co-sponsored by the Texas Music Office. The exclusive day party will take place at the Saxon Pub, the location of the monthly songwriter series presented by the performing rights organization (PRO). The event will feature 6 full band sets and 5 Austin-specific solo acoustic sets. The event will serve as a celebration of the third-year anniversary of the opening of the BMI Austin office. Performances will include Rhea Raj, KALI, Kydd Jones, THEBROSFRESH, Ben Burgess, Sun Room, Jackson Scribner, Gabe Lee, Chief Cleopatra, Jesse Daniel, and Susannah Joffe.
City of Bryan to Be Certified As A Music Friendly Community on March 4th
Please join the Texas Music Office + City of Bryan on Friday, March 4, 2022 at the Grand Stafford Theater for a special night celebrating Bryan's official designation as a TMO-certified Music Friendly Community. Representatives from the TMO will join leaders and stakeholders from the Bryan music community for the formal presentation. Following the 7:30 pm certification ceremony, a free concert featuring the Mark Daniel Band and up and coming country artist, Brandon Hodde will commence at 8 pm.
FREE WEBINAR: Copyright Essentials for Musicians
Musicians! Learn about the basics of copyright law and protecting your works through registration with the U.S. Copyright Office. Attorney Gwendolyn Seale will guide the discussion with two staff members of the US Copyright Office; John Riley, Assistant General Counsel, and Holland Gormley, Public Affairs Specialist. Panelists will also address practical issues relating to collaborations and joint ownership of works, and discuss issues pertaining to beats and samples.
