February 7
Former Artistic Director Roger Boykin presents the Heritage String Quartette featuring arrangements and original compositions written during the pandemic and played by an ensemble comprised of his former students. The night continues with pianist and local legend Bill Lohr and Friends who traveled the world playing for greats like Carmen McRae and Lou Rawlins.
March 6
In remembrance of the late Dallas jazz vocalist Leigh Tomlinson, this singer-centric evening opens with Heather Paterson & Straight Ahead featuring her take on classic standards and tunes from the Great American Songbook. Commonly referred to as the “first lady of Dallas Cabaret,” Sandra Kaye & A Few Good Men join to sing and swing the rest of the night away. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. in Meadows Hall; doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $50 per person or $45 for Sammons members. Admission includes light refreshments, valet parking, and beverages. All artists and programs are subject to change. Public sales open January 29, 2024.
April 3
Director of the Roots, Jazz, and American Music Program at Booker T. Washington, drummer Terence Hobdy Music fronts his band for the first time at Sammons Jazz. Picking back up for another drums-driven hour is the Stockton Helbing Quintet, showing off tricks of the trade from Stockton’s experience playing for Maynard Ferguson and Doc Severinsen. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. in Meadows Hall; doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $50 per person or $45 for Sammons members. Admission includes light refreshments, valet parking, and beverages. Sammons Jazz Artistic Director and Steinway Artist Arlington Jones brings back Arlington Jones & The Soul Chamber Band for another night of his original music, captivating orchestrations, and hip grooves. In both sets Arlington is featured on piano with Arlington “Ollie” Jones III on drums, James Driscoll on bass, Jorge Ginorio on percussion, Quamon Fowler on sax, and Meg Griffith on flute. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. in Meadows Hall; doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $50 per person or $45 for Sammons members. Admission includes light refreshments, valet parking, and beverages.
