Assisting with Disaster Relief Efforts

The Governor’s Commission for Women is dedicated to using its resources to assist in the rebuilding of the Hurricane Harvey aftermath. The International Union for the Conservation of Nature released a report on how natural disasters disproportionately affect women due to societal gender inequalities. While our efforts to assist hurricane-prone communities extends aid to people of all genders, we believe that natural disaster rebuilding efforts are considered a pressing women’s issue.

Hurricane Harvey Support

Over the summer, the Commission attended the Take Action Now! Coastal Bend events and met with women-owned businesses in the region to provide support and referral services.
