Governor Abbott Appoints Davis, Deal To Texas Council For Developmental Disabilities
Governor Greg Abbott appointed Calvin Davis and Alicia Deal, Ph.D. to the Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities for terms set to expire on February 1, 2027, and February 1, 2029, respectively. The council helps people with developmental disabilities achieve their potential for independence, productivity, and integration into their communities through the development of a comprehensive system of services and supports.
Calvin Davis of Cedar Hill is a volunteer and writer. He graduated from Texas Partners in Policymaking in 2019. He volunteers regularly at Jewish Family Services in Addison.
Alicia Deal, Ph.D. of Grapeland is a disability activist volunteer with US Gender and Disability Justice Alliance and the Coalition of Texans with Disabilities and is co-founder of Neurodivergents of Texas, a Texas Autistic Self-Advocacy Group. Deal received a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice, Master of Art in Criminology, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University, and a Master of Library Science from Texas Woman’s University.
