Governor Abbott Announces Latest Slate Of Appointments

This week, Governor Greg Abbott selected multiple qualified candidates to serve on behalf of Texans.

Alamo Regional Mobility Authority - Governor Abbott reappointed John Asel as presiding officer of the Alamo Regional Mobility Authority (RMA) for a term that will expire on February 1, 2028. The RMA is a political subdivision that allows local transportation planning and project delivery leaders to partner with the state to deliver transportation infrastructure projects that serve Bexar County.

Governor's Committee On People With Disabilities - Governor Abbott appointed Shelbi Davenport and reappointed Kori Allen, Billy Blanchard, Evelyn Cano, Juan Lopez, and Ben Willis to the Governor's Committee on People with Disabilities for terms set to expire on February 1, 2028. Additionally, the Governor appointed Al Henderson to the board for a term set to expire on February 1, 2027.  The Committee recommends changes in disability policies and programs, supports a network of committees on people with disabilities, issues awards to promote greater awareness, and promotes compliance with disability-related laws.

Grayson County Regional Mobility Authority - Governor Greg Abbott reappointed William “Bill” Douglass as presiding officer of the Grayson County Regional Mobility Authority (RMA) for a term set to expire on February 1, 2028. The RMA is a political subdivision that allows local transportation planning and project delivery leaders to partner with the state to deliver transportation infrastructure projects that serve Grayson County.

The Gulf States Marine Fisheries Commission – Governor Abbott reappointed Douglass “Doug” Boyd to The Gulf States Marine Fisheries Commission for a term set to expire on March 17, 2029. The purpose of the Gulf States Marine Fisheries Compact and the Gulf States Marine Fisheries Commission is to promote, through interstate cooperation, the better utilization of the fisheries, marine, shell, and anadromous of the seaboard of the Gulf of America by the development of a joint program for the promotion and protection of such fisheries and the prevention of the physical waste of the fisheries from any cause.

Lavaca-Navidad River Authority -  Governor Abbott appointed Joe Lynn Bonnot, D.D.S. and Dianne Juroske to the Lavaca-Navidad River Authority for terms set to expire on May 1, 2028 and May 1, 2027, respectively. The Authority oversees the storage, preservation, and distribution of stream and river water in Jackson County.

Texas Historical Commission - Governor Greg Abbott appointed Robert “Bobby” Lee to the Texas Historical Commission for a term set to expire on February 1, 2027. The Commission provides leadership and coordinates services to support projects commissioned by county historical commissions, historical societies, agencies, and institutions interested in the preservation of archeological and historical heritage. The Commission also acts as a clearinghouse and historical information center.

Texas Public Finance Authority - Governor Abbott reappointed Lance Etcheverry, Shanda Perkins, and Ben Streusand to the Texas Public Finance Authority for terms set to expire on February 1, 2031. The Authority issues and sells bonds for designated state agencies in order to finance the acquisition or construction of buildings.

Texas State Board Of Physical Therapy Examiners - Governor Abbott appointed Tiffany Barrett, PT, DPT, DSc, Mourad Hasbaoui, and Heather Jackson, PT, DPT to the Texas State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners for terms set to expire on January 31, 2031. The Board licenses and regulates the practice of physical therapy.

University of North Texas System Board of Regents - Governor Abbott appointed Lynn Gravley to the University of North Texas System Board of Regents for a term set to expire on May 22, 2031.
