Made in Texas: The Night We Met
![]()
The Made in Texas interview series has hit a big milestone: our first international interview!
We recently sat down with Tokyo-based filmmaker Fumiya Hayakawa to discuss his newest short film The Night We Met. He shared his experience of bringing Japanese stories to life in Texas, shooting on film, why Austin feels so welcoming to filmmakers and more.
Find a comfortable spot and follow the link below to catch the whole interview.
TMIIIP Questions? Let Us Know!
In the months since the passing of SB22 and the historic level of funding the Texas Moving Image Industry Incentive Program (TMIIIP) received, there's been no shortage of talk about the program, its funding and what participants may qualify for. We'd like to remind you to use caution when hearing information from an outside source.
Put plainly: the Texas Film Commission is the first, last and only source you should trust when it comes to anything TMIIIP-related.
If you have any questions whatsoever about TMIIIP, we encourage you to reach out to us directly. Our Incentive Department is more than happy to walk you through the program — just follow the link below to submit an Incentives Inquiry and they’ll be in touch.
On the Road With the TFC
It's always nice to get out of the office, hit the road and spread the good word about everything the Texas Film Commission can do for the Lone Star State's moving image industry. Here's just a few of the places we've visited recently:
- Steven McCaig and Will Zech took a trip out to sunny Los Angeles to participate in the Association of Film Commissions International (AFCI)'s Studio Summit and meet with key industry leaders.
- Michelle Habecker also visited Los Angeles to participate in the Sound Development Los Angeles conference.
- Steven and Robert Rodriguez attended screenings and hosted Q&A sessions at the Lost River Film Festival in San Marcos.
- Willita Mahone made her way to Corpus Christi to attend the Coastal Bend Music & Film Symposium.
- Stephanie Whallon visited Fort Worth to take part in the Texas A&M-Fort Worth "Voices that Innovate" Speaker Series.
- Willita and Matt Miller took part in the Texas A&M Career Fair in College Station.
- Matt also made his way to San Francisco to attend the annual Game Developers Conference (GDC).
- Cassandra Ariztegui took part in the Houston Latino Film Festival to provide information on TFC resources and services to attendees in — you guessed it — Houston.
