Texas Archive of the Moving Image (TAMI) | Austin, TX

Full-time, Exempt | Salary: $40,000–$50,000 / year, commensurate with experience

About TAMI

The Texas Archive of the Moving Image (TAMI) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to finding, preserving, and providing access to the moving image history of Texas — home movies, newsreels, educational films, and other footage that document the state's people and places. Through digitization, public screenings, an online streaming library, and community outreach, TAMI connects Texans with their shared visual history.

Position Summary

TAMI is seeking a creative, organized, and community-minded Marketing & Community Engagement Coordinator to lead our social media presence, plan and support public events, and help tell TAMI's story across email, web, and video. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys wearing multiple hats at a small, mission-driven organization and wants to see the direct impact of their work. The Coordinator reports to the Executive Director and works closely with the Curator, Operations Manager, and Technical Director.

Key Responsibilities

✦ Plan, create, and schedule content across TAMI's social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, and others), growing engagement with archive audiences across Texas.

✦ Write and send regular email newsletters and campaigns to donors, members, and the public.

✦ Coordinate logistics and promotion for TAMI events, including screenings, community outreach events, and fundraisers.

✦ Update and maintain website content, including event listings, blog/news posts, and featured archive collections.

✦ Edit short-form video — trailers, social clips, and event recaps — drawn from TAMI's archival footage and original footage.

✦ Support storytelling efforts that highlight donors, collections, and community partners across marketing channels.

✦ Track basic engagement metrics (email, social, web) and adjust content strategy accordingly.

✦ Represent TAMI at community events and build relationships with partner organizations, media, and audiences.

Qualifications

Required

✦ 1–3 years of experience in social media, marketing, communications, or a related field (internships count).

✦ Demonstrated experience managing social media accounts for an organization or brand.

✦ Basic video editing skills (e.g., Premiere Pro, CapCut, DaVinci Resolve, or similar).

✦ Strong writing skills and attention to detail.

✦ Comfortable managing multiple projects independently in a small-team environment.

✦ Ability to work occasional evenings/weekends for events.

✦ Experience with email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact).

✦ Familiarity with website content management systems (e.g., Drupal).

Preferred

✦ Interest in Texas history, film/media preservation, or archives.

✦ Experience working at a small nonprofit or cultural organization.

Compensation & Benefits

✦ Salary: $40,000–$50,000 annually, based on experience.

✦ Schedule & Flexibility: Hybrid structure with a standard 35–40 hours per week (roughly 80% in-office / 20% remote flexibility). Requires occasional evening or weekend hours for public events, with flexible scheduling (comp time) offered when hours exceed 40 in a week.

✦ Generous paid time off: 140 hours of vacation and 35 hours of sick leave annually.

✦ Observed Texas state holidays, plus paid winter break (the week between Christmas and New Year's Day).

✦ Retirement savings support via pre-tax 401(k) contributions.

✦ $400/month health stipend via QSEHRA.

How to Apply

Please submit a resume (with references) and 2–3 examples of social media, video, or writing work via the TAMI Job Application Form: https://texasarchive.org/jobs.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. TAMI is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applicants of all backgrounds.

As with any workplace, the film and television industries can present a wide range of potential occupational health and safety hazards to workers. The Texas Film Commission expects all productions, regardless of budget to employ best practices such as establishing a workplace harassment prevention policy as well as maintaining overall industry safety standards in order to encourage and accomplish safety on set. Please visit the Safety On Set page for additional industry safety resources as well as information about employee rights and laws in Texas.
