Via TAMI (Texas Archive of the Moving Image), currently seeking:

  • AMIA Pathways Fellowship Program - Intern (Paid)
  • Interns (non-paid)

One paid summer 2022 internship in the focus area of Digitization, Cataloging, or Inventory and Assessment will be offered for one individual from a traditionally marginalized identity group through the Association of Moving Image Archivists (AMIA) Pathways Fellowship Program. Interested candidates must be willing and able to participate in the AMIA Pathways Fellowship Program and apply to both programs concurrently.

Interested applicants should follow the instructions for a general internship application below and also submit contact information for two references to hr@texasarchive.org. They must also apply separately to the AMIA Pathways Fellowship by April 1, 2022.


  • Interns (non-paid)

Internship Focus Areas:

Digitization (On Site) - Intern will assist with all phases of the Texas Archive of the Moving Image's film and videotape digitization process, from preparation to digitization to file transfers.  Training on specific procedures, equipment, and software will be provided, but prior film handling experience is an asset. 

Cataloging (Off or On Site) - Intern will catalog and assist in the curation of selected videos for inclusion in the Texas Archive of the Moving Image collection at www.texasarchive.org. Will be assigned video collections from the archive, which includes industrial and corporate productions, home movies, advertisements, local television, and amateur films. Will conduct significant research and cataloging of a specific video collection, then create and implement a curatorial plan for the collection. 

Inventory and Assessment (On Site) - Intern will inventory materials into the TAMI database, transcribing item metadata from original objects, evaluating collections to determine their suitability for inclusion in the archive, and aid in prioritizing collections for preservation.

Communications (Off or On Site) - The intern will create curate, describe, edit, and upload social video content to TAMI’s social video platforms. Additionally, the intern will create and implement strategies for distribution and promotion via social media, email marketing, and TAMI’s website.

Eligibility/Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Intern must commit to a full summer internship 
  • Interest and/or background in archives/libraries/museums, history, education, and/or media
  • All positions benefit from candidates who are responsible, detail-oriented, and self-directed
  • Knowledge of Texas history is helpful
