Film Marketing Coordinator

POSITION: Film Marketing Coordinator

HIRE DATES: September 8th – November 7th

WORK HOURS: Contract. 40 hrs/week. Monday – Friday, will require additional hours and weekends in the weeks leading up to and during the Festival and Conference. In-Person, no remote opportunities available. Local applicants are preferred.

REPORTS TO: Marketing and Film Departments

COMPENSTATION: $667/week

ABOUT US: Austin Film Festival (AFF) furthers the art and craft of filmmaking by inspiring and championing the work of screenwriters, filmmakers, and all artists who use the language of film, television, theatre, and new media to tell a story. AFF is dedicated to providing unique cultural events and services, enhancing public awareness and participation and encouraging long lasting community partnerships. The Austin Film Festival is a not-for-profit 501c3 corporation.

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Film Marketing Coordinator works with the Marketing and Film Departments to create an effective marketing plan for every film accepted into the Festival. The Film Marketing Coordinator facilitates and organizes partnership strategies and communicates this information to both the filmmakers and staff. In addition, the Film Marketing Coordinator creates and distributes marketing materials leading up to and during the festival.

ENVIRONMENT: While working for this critically recognized organization, applicants are expected to be able to work efficiently and professionally in a fast-paced, team-oriented production environment. In such an environment, the ability to work well under pressure, excellent communication skills and intense organizational skills are a must.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The responsibilities of the Film Marketing Coordinator include but are not limited to:
Learn overall AFF marketing practices, current relationships, and strategies used in previous years, as well as all feature films for this year’s Festival
Work with Marketing and Film Departments to create an effective marketing plan for each film on behalf of the Festival
Work closely with Development Department to provide filmmaker information for ad sales and local partnerships and report interest to AFF staff.
Work with participating Filmmakers to encourage and collect marketing materials (posters, postcards, etc.) and advise them on their individual marketing plans
Assist staff with PR/Marketing Conference Calls with all participating Filmmakers
Facilitate partnerships and attendance within the community
Promote sales of filmmaker tickets and advanced group tickets to accepted films and local groups
Create leads and promote discounted group film passes to businesses, organizations, and other groups
Create flyers, dailies, and other marketing materials and manage distribution plan
Provide social media content to Marketing team, including Short Film announcements, world premieres, and blog posts
Assist Film Department with AFF Sched site during the Festival
Manage a team of student interns and volunteers
Create Weekly Status Reports for the Marketing and Film Departments and report daily projected film performance to staff
Adhere to and complete a predetermined timeline
Provide exemplary customer service
Provide wrap up and completion materials including totals for individual and bulk ticket sales
Track and report on film performance on Sched (online schedule) to Executive Department daily.
Provide exemplary customer service
Provide completion materials, including but not limited to wrap up report, archiving of documents and resources, and updating Film Marketing Coordinator training materials

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Must have extensive knowledge of the Festival
A self-motivated, self-starter adept at juggling multiple projects and problem solving
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Attention to detail and good follow-through
Extensive customer service experience
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to prioritize and delegate in high stress, high volume situations; works well under pressure
Must be available during the Austin Film Festival which takes place October 23rd – 30th, 2025
