[ROLAND] 45 to 70 years old, white or Hispanic male. Seeking union or non-union actors. ROLAND is an aging livestock veterinarian in rural West Texas. He’s the quiet rugged type, essentially shy and a bit of a loner—more comfortable around animals than people. He never used to mind the isolation. He's grown accustomed to keeping his head down, working hard and not expecting much from anyone or anything. He’s always been good at his job, and is respected by the people with whom he works. He lacks a gift for friendship, but is always willing to lend a hand when needed. Having just been diagnosed with a terminal illness, he can't shake the feeling that something in his life is missing and it may be too late to find it. We can pay $200.00 (plus 10%) and travel and accommodations and per diem. LEAD ROLE

[THE STRANGER] 30 to 50 years old, white or Hispanic male. Seeking non-union actors. THE STRANGER is a ranch hand with a wiry build and a cattleman hat perpetually drawn low across his face. He’s charismatic and friendly—a jokester and a serial philanderer with a penchant for sneaking off to town to drink away from his wife. He’s simple in tastes and sly in manner. Beneath his happy-go-lucky personality lies a profound loneliness that he can’t quite understand. We can pay $200.00 (plus 10%) and travel and accommodations and per diem. SUPPORTING ROLE

[THE WOMAN IN TOWN/NAOMI] 30 to 45 years old, white or Hispanic female. Seeking union or non-union actors. She’s an essentially kind, decent, down-on-her luck woman who works at the dance hall and sees men on the side. She has a gift for accurately seizing up people and opportunities. While she has grown to expect little from life and has had more than her share of hard breaks, she remains stubbornly optimistic in her outlook and capable of equal measures of shrewdness and tenderness. We can pay $200.00 (plus 10%) and travel and accommodations and per diem. SUPPORTING ROLE

[THE FOREMAN] 35 to 65 years old, white or Hispanic male. Seeking union or non-union actors. THE FOREMAN knows firsthand that the world is a brutal place; he's in the business of raising cattle for slaughter. He’s no nonsense and focused on getting the job done. He knows what makes people tick and how to get the best out of his workers. Looking for local hires $200.00/daily. Mileage will be reimbursed. SUPPORTING ROLE

[THE STRANGER’S WIFE/REBECCA] 30 to 45 years old, white or Hispanic female. Seeking union or non-union actors. THE STRANGER’S WIFE knows what her husband is up to, and it wouldn’t be the first time she’s caught him in a lie. She tolerates it for the love of her son and because she’s not sure what else she can do. She teeters between bitterness and resignation, but looks to get pleasure out of her daily routine. Despite living in a small town, she’s seen more of life than most people. Looking for local hires $200.00/daily. Mileage will be reimbursed. SUPPORTING ROLE

[THE STRANGER’S SON/GABRIEL] 6 to 10 years old, white or Hispanic male. Seeking union or non-union actors. THE STRANGER’S SON is your average kid, who loves poking around in the backyard and playing sports. He adores and idolizes his father, but is just getting to the age where he’s starting to realize that not everything at home is what it seems. Looking for local hires $200.00/daily. Mileage will be reimbursed. SUPPORTING ROLE

[MAN IN A LAB COAT/WILLIAM] 40 to 70 years old, white or Hispanic male. Seeking union or non-union actors. MAN IN A LAB COAT works as a technician at a rural medical clinic. His days are filled with drudgery and boredom, but it beats working outside in the hot sun. Looking for local hires $200.00/daily. Mileage will be reimbursed.

As with any workplace, the film and television industries can present a wide range of potential occupational health and safety hazards to workers. The Texas Film Commission expects all productions, regardless of budget to employ best practices such as establishing a workplace harassment prevention policy as well as maintaining overall industry safety standards in order to encourage and accomplish safety on set. Please visit the Safety On Set page for additional industry safety resources as well as information about employee rights and laws in Texas.
