The San Antonio Black International Film Festival (SABIFF) returns October 2–4, 2026 for its 8th year with this year’s powerful theme: HISTORY upRISING.
SABIFF is the premier Black indie-international film festival in the Alamo City—where stories rise, voices are centered, and vision takes the screen. Through film screenings, workshops, networking, live discussions, cultural exchange, music, and community experiences, SABIFF provides a vital platform for Creatives to tell their truths through their own images, voices, and perspectives.
This year’s theme, HISTORY upRISING, affirms the importance of learning, preserving, and sharing Black stories at a time when Black history, heroes, and defining moments are increasingly challenged, restricted, and erased. Through the power of film and storytelling, SABIFF stands in resistance to distortion and whitewashing while honoring the richness, depth, and global legacy of Black life and culture.
The festival features hybrid programming online and in-person throughout San Antonio, including film premieres, student matinees, filmmaker showcases, podcast interviews, networking receptions, AI workshops, awards celebrations, music, dancing, and community conversations.
