About the Event:
The inaugural She Speaks Film Festival comes to historic downtown Taylor, Texas, September 18–19, 2026, celebrating bold storytelling, independent cinema, and women’s voices in film.
Founded by Texas actor, writer, and producer Jessica Irvine Drake, She Speaks was created to provide a meaningful platform for women filmmakers and independent storytellers while bringing a unique cultural event to Central Texas outside of Austin.
The festival features a diverse lineup of Texas, U.S., and international films, including narrative and documentary features and shorts. Audiences will also have opportunities to connect with filmmakers through Q&As, networking events, and a special Females in Film panel presented in collaboration with Women in Film & Television Austin, featuring accomplished women working across the film industry.
Festivities begin Friday evening with a filmmaker and community networking mixer and special screenings, followed by a full day of films, conversations, and the inaugural She Speaks awards ceremony on Saturday.
She Speaks is more than a film festival. It is a space for women’s voices to be heard, independent stories to be discovered, and filmmakers and audiences to connect through the power of cinema.
