2023 Young Filmmakers Bootcamp w/ SWAMP

About the Event:

SWAMP presents the 2023 Young Filmmakers Bootcamp, a three-week intensive workshop designed for creatives age 12 and up. Through a combination of lectures, hands-on exercises, guest speakers, discussions, and workshops, campers will form a basic understanding of the production process, from conceptualization to post-production, and transform their ideas into proper screenplays and short films of their own.

This year we are limiting camps to a maximum of 15 per session and implementing CDC guidelines.

Over the course of the camp students will:

Learn the fundamentals of screenwriting, producing, directing, cinematography, and editing.

Learn about different jobs in the film industry what each crew member does, and the production process.

Gain an understanding of storytelling, screenplay structure, examples of various narrative and genre styles.

Write their own screenplays in a workshop setting.

Learn about the business of film, releases, contracts, and all the legal documents needed to successfully make and present a film.

Students will learn camera techniques, functionality, and operation, as well as the basics of lighting and sound.

Gain experience using equipment through the Houston Media Source, which they will have access to after the camp.

Learn how to work as a crew, how to storyboard, how to direct, and how to edit.

Screen their films at the end of the workshop, and will post them online for friends and family to view.
