Music Friendly Community Program Marches Forward To Certify 20 Cities in 2020
July and August 2020 have proved to be very busy for the Texas Music Office's Music Friendly Community program, as multiple cities hold virtual workshops and certification ceremonies.
In July, Dallas and Bastrop both help virtual Music Friendly Community workshops with the assistance of the ever-popular Zoom app, hosted by TMO Director Brendon Anthony and Community Relations & Outreach Specialist Chip Adams.
Also, in July, Chip Adams certified Waco and Alpine as Music Friendly Communities.
In August, the TMO held a virtual MFC workshop in Bandera with the Bandera Convention & Visitors Bureau serving as official co-hosts.
"As our focus is on safely and strategically reopening and revitalizing all aspects of the Lone Star State—work, school, entertainment, and culture—Texas is committed to working alongside industry leaders in Bandera to ensure they have the knowledge and tools they need,” said Governor Greg Abbott. “Music is a big part of the Texas brand, and I thank the Texas Music Office for helping communities like Bandera to succeed.”
Additionally, Adams will certify Lubbock and Bastrop as the newest communities receiving the coveted designation by the end of August; the MFC program will have certified 16 total communities by the end of August 2020, placing the program right on track to have (at least) 20 total cities certified into the business development program by the end of the year.
