16mm on the 16th: a night of vintage Texas educational films in the Baker Center Cafetorium

This September, join the Texas Archive of the Moving Image (TAMI) and Raleigh, NC’s legendary A/V Geeks for a nostalgic and slightly bizarre trip down memory lane. Hosted by film archivist and A/V Geeks founder Skip Elsheimer, this one-night-only screening brings the best of vintage 16mm educational and instructional films straight to the big screen. It’s 16mm on the 16th—16mm film, September 16th, and 100% old school.

We're bringing these mid-century celluloid treasures back to their natural habitat: the cafetorium at the historic Baker Center, built in 1911 as the Baker School.

What’s on the Lesson Plan for 16mm on the 16th:

• A Handpicked 16mm Vault Lineup: Skip Elsheimer and TAMI have cracked open their vaults to curate rare 16mm films produced right here in the Lone Star State.
• Authentic School Vibe: Experience these films inside Baker Center's original school cafetorium. Literally, old school.
• Real 16mm Projection: Experience the authentic sights and sounds of film projected live from 16mm.
• Complimentary Drinks & Snacks: Enjoy free beverages (wine provided by Austin Winery) and snacks (provided by Phil’s Icehouse and Amy’s Ice Creams) while you take in the show.
