• The South Texas College Music Department provides students with a 2 year program leading to an Associates Degree in Music. This degree is applicable to a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education or Music Performance at any university in the state of Texas. The Music Department has ensembles that include jazz ensemble, guitar ensemble, brass ensemble, percussion ensemble, drum line, choir, string ensemble and mariachi. For general education, music appreciation courses are offered. Applied lessons in piano (4 levels), voice (4 levels), guitar (4 levels), brass (4 levels) string instruments (4 levels) woodwinds (4 levels) and percussion (4 levels) are available.
