  • Music therapy, the language of the heart, combines the healing power of music with the skills of the music therapist to help restore mental and physical health. The Department of Music Therapy at West Texas A&M University is dedicated to training and preparing students to be talented, effective and productive members of the profession of music therapy. The program was established in 1973 with only a handful of students and has grown into a department with more than 45 students majoring in music therapy. The program presents students many opportunities to directly work with a variety of clients under the supervision of registered music therapists. Students graduate from WTAMU with a Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy.
