Governor Abbott Honors Veterans At Ceremony In San Antonio

November 11, 2016 | Austin, Texas | Press Release

Governor Greg Abbott today attended and delivered remarks at the AT&T Foundation's ceremony for Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio.

“The men and women of the U.S. Military who put service above self to preserve and defend our cherished freedoms are what makes America the brightest beacon of freedom in the world,” said Governor Abbott.  “May we never forget the sacrifices of the valiant troops that put themselves in harm’s way, and the nearly two million veterans and their families that call Texas home. As Governor, I share with all veterans and military families the enduring gratitude of the people of Texas for your bravery on and off the battlefield.”

The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund is a leader in supporting the men and women of the Armed Forces and their families. Begun in 2000 and established as an independent not-for-profit organization in 2003, the Fund has provided nearly $200 million in support for the families of military personnel lost in service to our nation, and for severely wounded military personnel and veterans. These efforts are funded entirely with donations from the public, and hundreds of thousands of individuals have contributed to the Fund.
