Governor Abbott Announces Staff Changes

Governor Greg Abbott today announced Steven Albright as the new Budget Director for the Governor’s office, replacing Ky Ash, who has accepted a position in the private sector. Albright currently serves as the Governor’s Deputy Policy Director.

"Steven brings a wealth of experience in state government that will be instrumental in our mission to ensure the State of Texas remains a good steward of taxpayer dollars. I would like to thank Ky for his outstanding work as Budget Director and wish him the very best in his future endeavors."

Steven Albright currently serves as Governor Abbott’s Deputy Policy Director. Prior to joining the Office of the Governor, he served eight years as Chief of Staff in the Texas Senate for Senator Robert Nichols, as well as Policy Director for the Texas Senate Committee on Transportation. Albright also served as a legislative director and Chief of Staff in the Texas House of Representatives. He has more than 15 years of experience in the legislative and executive branches of Texas government, including 20 regular and special legislative sessions focusing on natural resources, transportation and finance-related policy. Albright graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 2002 and received a Masters in Public Administration from Texas State University in 2006. He also serves as a member of the Texas A&M Transportation Institute Advisory Council.
