“The president’s job is to enforce the law, not write the law,” said Governor Abbott. “As the president himself admitted, he violated the Constitution. He said 20 times he did not have the authority to rewrite the law. But yet, he acted as a king and rewrote it himself because he could not get Congress to do what he wanted them to do.”

“We are at a constitutional tipping point in this country where the president has been trying to write laws,” said Governor Abbott. “The Supreme Court shut down that possibility, but it’s essential that the court continue to rule in ways that does not give the president to rewrite the laws of this country.”

“This is recidivist behavior on the part of this president repeatedly saying 'if Congress will not act, if Congress will not write a law the way that I want it written,' then he is going to write it himself,” said Governor Abbott. “That turns the Constitution on its head. It is necessary, not just for attorneys general, it's necessary for Congress, it's necessary for all Americans that we hold the president accountable to follow the laws.”
