Governor Abbott Appoints Three To The Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority Board Of Directors

Governor Abbott has appointed Ronald J. "Ron" Hermes and reappointed Thomas O. “Tommy” Mathews, II and Dennis Patillo for terms set to expire on February 1, 2021 to the Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority Board of Directors. The board oversees water resources for communities in its 10 county district.

Ronald J. "Ron" Hermes of Seguin is a physics teacher at Marion High School. He is a member of the Private Schools Interscholastic Association State Board of Directors and secretary of Citizens United for Lake Placid. Additionally he works with the Christian Youth Theater and is a lector at St. James Catholic Church. Hermes received a Bachelor of Education from The University of Texas at Austin and a Master in Human Performance from the University of Houston at Clear Lake. 

Thomas O. “Tommy” Mathews, II of Boerne is president of Westward Environmental Inc. He is a member of the National Registry of Environmental Professionals, Texas Board of Professional Geoscientists, Associated General Contractors of Texas, Texas Aggregate and Concrete Association, National Sand, Stone and Gravel Association and Texas Asphalt and Pavement Association. In addition, he is a member of the Guadalupe Blanco Land Trust Board, Centurions of Kendall County and the Boerne ISD Athletic Hall of Honor Committee. Mathews received a Bachelor of Arts in geology from Trinity University in San Antonio.

Dennis Patillo of Victoria is president of Stewart Title of the Coastal Bend, Inc.  He is a board member of the Victoria Airport Commission and the DeTar Hospital Board. Additionally, he is the past board chair of the Victoria Economic Development Corporation, Houston Association of Realtors and Texas Association of Realtors. Patillo received a Bachelor of Science in political science from the University of Houston.
