Governor Abbott Appoints Cox As Canadian River Compact Commissioner

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Roger Cox of Amarillo as the Canadian River Compact Commissioner for a term set to expire on December 31, 2021. The commissioner is responsible for administering the provisions of the Canadian River Compact entered into by Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and the United States, and he has all of the power and duties prescribed by the Canadian River Compact.

Roger Cox is a lawyer and shareholder in the Underwood Law Firm. He is board certified in Farm and Ranch Real Estate Law, Commercial Real Estate Law, and Business Bankruptcy Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He is a member of the Texas Association of Bank Counsel, American Bankruptcy Institute and the State Bar of Texas. In addition, he serves as a trustee of the Kelln Zimmer Memorial Scholarship Foundation and the Texas Trapshooters Association Youth Scholarship Fund. Cox received a Bachelor of Science in education from Texas State University and a Juris Doctor from St. Mary’s University School of Law.
