Governor Abbott Appoints Five To Governing Board Of Texas Civil Commitment Office

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Rona Stratton Gouyton and reappointed Katie McClure to the Governing Board of the Texas Civil Commitment Office for terms set to expire February 1, 2017. The Governor additionally appointed Jose Aliseda and reappointed Robert Dominguez and Christy Jack for terms set to February 1, 2018. Jack will continue serving as chair. The office is responsible for providing monitoring and treatment of civilly committed sexually violent predators.

Rona Stratton Gouyton of Fort Worth is the sales and office manager for Complex Printing. She frequently speaks to victim services groups and panels and law enforcement agencies regarding victim awareness within the criminal justice field. She is a founding member of Victims of Violence and Families of Murder Victims and served as a member of the Board of Pardons and Paroles Victim Advisory Board. Gouyton has received the Courage Award from the Council on Sex Offender Treatment and the Mitch Poe Public Service Award from the Tarrant County Sexual Abuse Advisory Council.

Katie McClure of Kingwood is an attorney at the Peterson Law Group. Previously, she served as an assistant district attorney for Tarrant County, where she was a felony prosecutor in the Crimes Against Children Unit, lead juvenile division sex crimes prosecutor and the point of contact for families of abuse victims. She is a former member of the Ellis County District Attorney's Child Abuse Multidisciplinary Team and a former member of the Scotty's House Brazos Valley Child Advocacy Center Board of Directors. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas and a former legal writing instructor for the University of Texas at Arlington Paralegal Program. McClure received a Bachelor of Arts from Texas A&M University and a Juris Doctor from the University of Texas School of Law.

Jose Aliseda of Beeville is the district attorney for the 156th Judicial District, including Bee, Live Oak and McMullen counties and is former state representative of House District 35. He is a veteran of the United States Navy and previously served as a member of the Board of Pardons and Paroles and as Bee County Judge. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and is former director of the Bee County Chamber of Commerce. Aliseda received a Bachelor of Arts and a Juris Doctor from the University of Texas at Austin.

Robert Dominguez of Mission is chief of the Mission Police Department. He is a member of the Texas Police Chiefs Association, Rio Grande Valley Border Chiefs Coalition, Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council (LRGVDC) Regional Police Academy Advisory Board, South Texas College Police Academy Advisory Board and the City of Mission Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Board. He is coordinator of the Mission Traffic Safety Committee and past member of the LRGVDC Homeland Security Grant Review and Appropriations Subcommittee. Additionally, he is a three year trustee of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 9698 and member of HEROs - Helping Emergency Responders Organization Program. Dominguez received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Texas-Pan American.

Christy Jack of Fort Worth is a partner at Varghese Summersett, PLLC, and previously served as an assistant criminal district attorney for Tarrant County. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas and current chair-elect of the Criminal Justice Section. Additionally, she is a member of the Tarrant County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and a past member and past training chair of the Texas District and County Attorneys Association. She is former program director of the McLean Parent Teacher Association and past president of the Texas Christian University Kinderfrogs School Parent Teacher Association. Jack received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Baylor University and a Juris Doctor from Texas Tech University School of Law.
