Governor Abbott Names Chair And Appoints Four To Department Of Information Resources
Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Linda Shaunessy to the governing board of the Department of Information Resources (DIR) for a term to expire February 1, 2019, and has appointed Stuart Bernstein, John Scott and Rigo Villarreal for terms set to expire February 1, 2021. The Governor additionally named John Scott presiding officer. DIR coordinates, monitors, and directs information resources management within state government.
Linda Shaunessy of Austin is the business contracts administrator for The University of Texas at Austin and previously served as an assistant attorney general in the Texas Attorney General’s Office for 25 years. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas, grade level member of the National Charity League and sustaining member of the Junior League of Austin. Shaunessy received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Juris Doctor from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law.
Stuart Bernstein of Austin is a director at CapRidge Partners. His volunteer commitments have included serving as a board member of the Toigo Foundation and member of the University of Texas Real Estate Finance and Investment Center Advisory Council and University of Texas System Chancellors Council and as past president of the University of Texas 1883 Council. He is the founder and chairman Emeritus of Young Texans Against Cancer, president of the Seton Forum and board member of the Boy Scouts of Central Texas Investment Foundation. Additionally, he is a past director of the Texas Lyceum and past board member of the M.D. Anderson Advance Team. Bernstein received a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Business Administration from The University of Texas at Austin.
John Scott of Fort Worth is an attorney who practices in Fort Worth and Austin. He previously served as chief operating officer for the Health and Human Services Commission and as deputy attorney general for civil litigation in the Texas Attorney General's Office. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas. Scott received a Bachelor of Arts from The University of Texas at Austin and a Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law.
Rigo Villarreal of Mission is the superintendent of bridges for the City of McAllen. He is a board member of the Rio Grande Valley Partnership and McAllen Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Border Trade Alliance Board of Directors and the Texas Transportation Commission Border Trade Advisory Committee. Additionally, he is a former member of the Texas Department of Transportation Freight Advisory Committee. Villarreal received a Bachelor of Social Work and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Texas – Pan American.
